Akerah Winder, B.S.S.

Behavioral Support Specialist, Logos CDC Community Counseling Services

Akerah Winder is a highly skilled and compassionate behavioral support specialist who specializes in working with children facing social and emotional challenges, as well as those on the autism spectrum. With a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from the University of Pittsburgh and years of hands-on experience, Akerah is deeply committed to helping children and families navigate life’s difficulties with empathy, care, and evidence-based strategies.

Akerah’s expertise extends beyond traditional therapeutic approaches. As a trained ballerina and ballroom dancer, she has combined her artistic talents with her clinical knowledge to develop an innovative Movement Therapy program. This program uses dance and movement as therapeutic tools to enhance emotional expression, self-regulation, and communication skills in children. Her creative approach has been especially effective in fostering growth and confidence in young clients.

While at the University of Pittsburgh, Akerah’s dedication to advocacy and leadership shone brightly as she led the first African American majorette team at a predominantly white institution. This experience reflects her commitment to creating inclusive spaces where individuals of all backgrounds can feel valued and supported.

Akerah is passionate about empowering children to overcome obstacles, build resilience, and develop the skills they need to thrive socially, emotionally, and academically. She is known for her ability to connect with children on their level, making therapy both engaging and effective.

When she’s not working, Akerah enjoys dancing, mentoring youth, and finding new ways to incorporate creativity into her therapeutic practice.

With her unique blend of professional expertise, creativity, and dedication, Akerah is more than qualified to support your child’s growth and emotional well-being, helping them unlock their full potential.
